Judit Dervadelin

“Not every audit is easy; sometimes it’s very demanding work, but when the pieces of the puzzle all fit into place, it’s extremely rewarding,” says Judit Dervadelin, a graduate of Waikato’s Master of Professional Accounting (MPAcct).

Judit completed the course with first class honours. She secured her first accounting role at BDO Waikato straight away, thanks to a glowing recommendation from one of her lecturers.

Since then she's worked her way up the career ladder and is now a finance manager at MilkTestNZ, based in Hamilton.

Originally from Hungary, Judit arrived in New Zealand with an economics degree and thought it would be helpful for her career to gain expertise in accounting as well. “If you understand accounting terms, you understand business,” she says.

“I wanted a shorter course, and Waikato was the only university in New Zealand offering an accelerated masters in accounting. I feel I received an excellent education from the MPAcct degree; the knowledge I gained helps me in my job every day."

Judit also liked the fact that Waikato Management School has Triple Crown accreditation from AMBA, EQUIS and AACSB.

"Even if I returned home to Europe, my MPAcct degree would still be internationally recognised by employers."
